  • So far, things are looking great here. I am feeling at home, things are as expected. Atmoshere is great. I want to keep it that way. My goal is to stick around here. I don’t want to keep switching jobs. But at the same time, I don’t want to left in a situation that when things go wrong, I’m stuck. I always have to be on my toes. And I am, because that’s who I am.

I love a few things about the place so far…
    1. the dev env is solid
    2. the developers are competitive and I think there’s healthy competition
    3. I can walk to Penn station
    4. Startup atmosphere
    5. challenging work
    6. Java env
    7. motivational bonus $$

It’s a long list. And I will try to do my best here. I will try to help mysel. I will try to inspire others. I will try to introduce new ways of doing things. I will try to be friendly to others. I will try to do the best that I can. I will do my best to improve myself.

I should not only write about a workplace. I need to shift to writing about my family. I am really a lucky guy to have a great family. It’s not all rosy. But I am improving things as well. If I can improve it, things will become even better. And I see they have, and I love the fact.More to come.

  • I love Media 6! Really, I think I finally found something really interesting. I hope this stays like this for a really long time! But either way, I have to keep improving myself. That’s the only way I can feel comfortable. And that’s the only way that I can continue to add to this team and make it better. That’s the only way I know how I can distinguish myself. That’s me and I will continue doing that.

I can see how the brian tracy way of setting goals is really helping me. I am motivated throughout the day. It might be a combination of the new job environment, but I really love it. It is making me work the way I want and that is to give 100% of my effort to work and dev related stuff. I am eating, drinking, and breathing dev. And I feel healthy! And it’s a great feeling!

I do have some other dev related goals that I have to figure out. I need to also write some code on a side. EVeryday. Not sure how I will figure that out yet. But I need to. I also need to spend some more time reading. Or perhaps I leave reading to home. Not sure, but I have to figure it out eventually.

  • doing my best

I should be proud of myself. I am really doing the best I can since I started here at m6. I have been solely focusing on the job. This is my goal and I will achieve it here at m6. My role in a company is to do the best possible job. And also to improve as a developer. Nothing else. I’m not going to become a great writer/speaker/facebook commentator/news writer nor news reader. That’s not my goal. It’s actually a waste of time. I will not do that.

What’s giving me the motivation? I think realizing that I want to do something different at this new place; knowing that expecations are high; but also setting goals via Brian Tracy way is the best way to set/achieve goals. I really am making much more progress when I follow the technique. Love it.

Will this be enough? What can I expect. If I give my best and that’s not enough, who can I blame? Not me. It would mean that this is not a place for me. I doubt it. I hope that my performance will make me shine. It always has. But we’ll see.

  • going 100%

I’m working hard. That’s my new goal. My biggest goal at the new place, media6degrees. is to be as plorific as possible. My goal is to be a work horse. Why? Because I have never done it before. I have never tried to do ALL that I have, ALL THE TIME! I think my time has come. And I also think that the place is right as well. I will eat, drink and breathe code at m6d. I have made this decision.

There are several reasons for this. This is a competitive place. That’s #1. There is the bonus part, #2. And #3, is that it’s the best possible use of my time, #4. And I will learn the most if I do it that way. Do I need more reasons?

It also aligns well with my goals of forcing myself to do the things that I feel resistance to. Sure, it’s great to read news/FB a lot. But that does not help me!

  • big chage

I finished my first week! Fun, fun, fun. I have decided to try something I have never done before: work like a horse. Read: eat, drink, and breathe code. That means no reading news. That means no spending time on FB. No reading polish papers. Not spending time on anything besides dev related stuff. I still need to find some time trying to improve myself, write some code on the side, but that will come later. For now, I have to force myself to do the things I need to to be the most plorific worker I can

  • m6d

I am in a new job! Yes, yes, yes. This is my first week at Media6Degrees. I love it so far. People know what they’re doing. There is pressure to do better. In fact, there is pressure to do well. A lot of pressure. But I will try to do the best I can. That’s really what I can ask from myself.

So how is this place? I can say one thing: java heavy!

Other than that, I think things will work out for me. I love the startup atmosphere. I love the fact that things are getting done. And I love the fact that I can write some good Java programs.

I have made a few decisions lately. I will work as hard as I can. I will be a code junkie at this place. What do I mean? I will only focus on work, work, work, and dev improvement. I want to be as plorific as I can. I want to get better as well in the meantime. But that means no slacking off. That means that I will have to stretch myself. And most of all, that means that I have to discipline myself!

Dobre pytanie. Myślę że nie jest to łatwa sprawa. Ale za pomocą książek jest osiągalna.

Ja zacząłem mówić do swoich synów po angielsku. Marta po polsku. Jest to techika OPOL (Jeden Rodzic Jeden Język). To jest technika w miarę prosta w użyciu i zarazem przynosząca najlepsze efekty. Zobaczymy.

  • moving on

I am happy with my decision to move on. Time has come. I feel good about it.

I gave notice today. Yes, they want to keep me, but I’m not going to make the same mistake twice. Not again. You can fool me once and you’re a fool; fool me twice and I’m a fool. That’s the way things go. I talked to Pranav today. He seemed concerned but also understanding. He knows there is a better world for me. Plain and simple. But he’s still here, so he has to make the best of it.

The nice thing about leaving this NBC and Markit, is that I’m not making the same mistake of giving notice. It’s best to say, can we meet? And then we talked it out. Seems like that works much better and there is no room for insulting the manager, like it happened with Chris.

Thinking about finally moving on is exciting. But it usually is. Over the years, over the few times I have resigned, I have been lucky to find something fairly quickly. Why? Because I keep myself up to date; because I give all that I have in every place that I work for. Same thing here: I have tried to make it a better place. More than anywhere, I think I have succeeded.

I’m happy to see this being over. Time to go. Time to say good bye to my friends. I’m really lucky.

  • setting goals

My goal setting is not working lately. I’m not motivated enough. Not sure what is happening. I have to change something. Starting from tomorrow, I’m going to try to go back to the Brian Tracy type goal setting. We’ll see if it helps. I think it should. I read an article today advocating that rule.

I have a few things to accomplish. I have some time now. I cannot waste time. One of my rules is not to waste time. But I keep doing it. Something has to change. I need to be motivated more. I need to study better. I need to get better. I will.
