I am not being disciplined enough. I miss my gym time as well as I am missing my hourly read time. Like I said before, this is unacceptable. I have too much stuff that I want to learn. I have to be passionate and determined enough to do it everyday 6-7 times a week. There are just no excuses. It’s not like I don’t like to do it. I actually do. I love to learn. It’s just that I go to sleep late and don’t feel like waking up. Here’s a rule I am going to setup. I have to go to sleep before 11PM. I can go later only if I have a really good reason. If I don’t have a good reason, then I don’t have an excuse not to wake up at 6AM. As simple as that.
Fabian is really progressing nicely. My wife gives him a lot of compliments. He started to show the moves that we show him. For instance, he can now show how tall he’s going to grow. It’s so funny. He is such a sweet boy. He got under me on Sunday, but that was just for a moment. In any case, there is no way for me to get nervous. He is my son and I love him so much!

Just a day
My hair has grown a lot. I “feel” it on my head. It’s starting to bother me. So what’s next? I’m getting a hair cut tonight. A second one from my wife. I am looking forward to that.
Today at Markit marked the last day of a long time employee of an old communicator. We went to Legal Seafoods here in White Plains. Around 20 people attented. For the whole time, I had the impression that Vlad is going to foot the bill. Guess what? We all had to pay $27. This place is not cheap. My entry was $25 so I guess I came out OK. I got screwed many times where I ordered a $10 entry and had to pay $20+. Not this time.
I am getting better in maintaining the eye contact. I can see that I am doing it for longer times and actually looking at the other person directly. It gives me a direct interaction and I can adjust my way of speaking. I can actually interact with the other person. I still go off at times, but I am making progress and that’s important. -
Allergy off day #4
What a relief! Almost an allergy free day! 🙂 I think it is because it is cloudy today. I had a stuffy nose but not itching in the eyes nor nose. Is the allergy over? I doubt it, but I’d take a day like today anytime.
For a couple days, excluding today, I had a hard time waking up at 6AM. I am just lazy and not feeling like doing it. I want to stop doing that. I have a lot to learn. I don’t really have a chance to read at work, so I have to concentrate on doing it at home. I have tons of stuff I want to read.
It seems to me that I have more and more things to do. Henry wants me to develop an app to read DDF files and change some stuff. I have outstanding stuff for kacwin.com that I would like to do. It’s just that I don’t have the time. I really don’t have the energy to do anything at night either. -
Allergy day #3
Allergy day #3! Oh, man, my allergy is getting into me. It’s impacting the way I work and I cannot really look at other people because my eyes are so watery. I am running out of options, actually. It’s better than yesterday, but it is still killing me. I don’t really know what to do. I’ll see if it improves considerably tomorrow; if not, I will call my doctor and get a shot.
For next year, on the first day of this type of an attack, I should just to go a doctor and get a shot. It’s really making me feel bad. I don’t like that. -
Allergies and my wife being sick
For a second day in a row, my allergy is killing me! Oh, man. I don’t know if I had it that bad. This year, we had a cold weather, cold spring for a long time. And now, all of a sudden, it is 70+ degrees and everything is blooming. It’s killing me. I have been taking Benadryl in the morning but I don’t think it works for me anymore. So I also take Claritin. Seems to help a little but still. I have got this itchy nose and starting from today, I’ve got watery eyes. I cannot even concentrate!
But we had a tough night yesterday. My wife had a stomach virus or something. She vomited twice at night. On top of it, Fabian woke up and did not want to fall asleep. He just wanted to keep playing. My wife had to go to the bathroom, and I was only with him, so he started crying. This repeated several times. Good times. Oh, and I had allergy attacks and had to go to the bathroom few times. Well, to be clear, not an attack, but since I was awake, I had a stuffed nose so I had to clean it up. -
I'm 29!
On this special day, I’ve got an allergy attack. Ever since I come to work today, I have had my nose itch like crazy. My eyes are somewhat watery. But it’s the nose that’s itching me like hell. I had to actually go to Walmart and buy some Claritin because it was just killing me.
Yes, it’s my birthday today. I am … 29! Already! 🙂 Time flies by, I am finishing my 1/3 of my life. Hey, I’ve got at least 2/3rds to go! I’m just assuming that I will live around 90. 🙂 But I feel more confident as ever. I feel that the possibilities for me are endless. I can do whatever I want. I know that I can be successful in no matter what I do. Except construction and other types of manual work, of course.
My work at Toastmasters bears some fruit. We have had the most amazing meetings. The best since I’ve been at FEB for the past 3 years. I have, with my leadership skills helped bring the club to becoming better and better. I have helped to put some life into the club. How? By making it simple for others to contribute. By making it more organized. By trying to help other people. It’s amazing how much we’ve improved. But to stop now would mean this work would go to waste. I will be successful if this club keeps improving. If not, then I have not done my job correctly. -
Doing something I fear
I have an assignment tomorrow that is not so easy. I have to create table topics questions on Cinco de Mayo! I don’t know squat about it. It’s not easy to do so. It’s a little bit out of my comfort zone. But hey, I want to do things out of my comfort zone everyday.
Yes, that’s what I have to focus on. What can I do everyday that falls into “I fear it” category. I have to think about it, and it is usually a day-by-day call. In any case, I would like to find things that scare me and just do them. I will become a better person as a result. It’s a challenge. I will have a more interesting life as well. And I will end up doing things that benefit me, but which I fear doing. -
1st day; eye contact
My first day with a new manager! I have to say that I think this is going to work very good. I have a good rapport with Tom. The only thing that can make it bad is the product that we’re working on. We might both get fed up with it. I don’t think that’s going to happen, though. I believe we’ll make it a very good product and both of us will be successful. I sure hope so.
I read a great article about maintaining good eye contact. I should make it seem that I talk to one person. I only make eye contact with one person at a time (5-7 seconds). I then move on to a different person, in a different section. But it is critical that I maintain eye contact with one person, not with the whole group. Otherwise, it’s like not maintaining an eye contact at all. By maintaining good eye contact I can feed off the audience. I can see what they have to say to me. To be a good speaker, it’s essential that I improve my eye contact. -
Change at management
A big change at work today. I have a new manager! I am excited, actually. Why? Because my new manager will be a guy that I like. I have been close with Tom ever since I started. I connected with him right at the interview. I even sent him a personal note that I am joining Markit because of him. I think we can have a good working relathionship. I think we can accomplish a lot. I think I can shine under him. So what happened? Vadim decided he wants to do something else. He is moving to a Quotes department. He was good: direct and candor. However, he could not really explain technical stuff.
All in all, I am excited. We have two people in the department right now. So, in a way, I moved up as well. We’ll see what happens. Things could go worse, but hey, the job market is good. I am excited!
I have to deliver and I will work hard to do the best I can. I actually have to read a new book on improving productivity. I will read it by the end of the summer.
